One thing Lluis Martinez-Ribes feels really passionate about is devising innovative retail business models. Over the past 35 years, he has actively pursued his interest in the retail field, both academically and in the business world. His position as Associate Professor at ESADE coupled with his work as a Consultant Partner at Martinez Franch consultants has enabled him to gain a most unique perspective and develop his own proven methodology. Today, Martinez-Ribes is one of the leading specialists in retail innovation with extensive work experience in more than 24 countries.
Martinez-Ribes holds an MBA from ESADE University (Barcelona, Spain) and a specialised Retail MBA from the University of Stirling (Scotland, UK). Additionally, he completed a program in Active Learning Methods at Harvard Business School (USA).
Academic career highlights
In 1986, he joined ESADE Business School to launch and lead the Commercialisation and Retailing Area of the Marketing Management Department. Later on, in 2002, he was appointed Director of the Marketing Team, and became Academic Director of the EMMS (Executive Master in Marketing and Sales) program in 2008. Additionally, he coordinates the academic activities related to Sports, Culture and Leisure management at ESADE.
At present, Martinez-Ribes teaches the Retail Innovation and Best Practices in Marketing courses at ESADE.
Furthermore, he has participated as visiting professor at numerous institutions, including SDA Bocconi (Milan, Italy), the University of Edinburgh (Scotland, UK), the University of Vienna (Austria), Singapore Management Univ., the HEC Business School (Paris), the Goizueta Business School (Emory University, Atlanta, USA), the St. Gallen Bus. School (Switzerland), the Academy of National Economy of Russia (Moscow), the Universidad Cat. Cordoba (Argentina), the UCA University in Nicaragua and Guatemala, the STUCKA University Kharkov (Ukraine), and the Kazakhstan Institute of Management (KIMEP) in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
